Being’s Cruelest Twist

By fate we live, daring to make some sense
Of long years lost ignoring human
dense.
Reason shrieks:
there must be a primal cause.
If not, earthly sanity knows no laws.

Science gives a queer start to what exists:
"The Big Bang exploded
                               ens from nothingness."
Have we in turn sprung forth to be ignored,
Daring to know being of our own accord?

Perhaps free will gives terms:
                               The right to choose
Between insanity or a God-planned ruse.
When life's clock unwinds,
                               death will certainly occur.
Being's cruelest twist:
                               Wits without an answer!
